The first thing you'll notice when you buy a new Windows computer and boot it up is that it is full of what is called "bloat ware". Bloat ware is a term given to programs that are preloaded onto your computer that are not necessarily useful. For example, most computers come loaded with a free trial of Norton Anti-Virus and AOL. And most people will never use it let alone know of its existence. Are they bad? Not necessarily.
They are not viruses or harmful programs. They will, however, have a small trace of themselves running at all times and can slow your computer down a bit. You can do something about these by manually removing them from your computer via the control panel.
An easy way to get around this is to simply reinstall the Windows on your computer. This can be done by using the restore DVD that was provided by the manufacturer with your computer.
If you are able to tweak it and optimize its performance, your computer will boot up faster and load programs faster than usual. Plus, you'll also know that your computer runs "lighter".
